So this past weekend was my sister's "Birthday Extravaganza Weekend!". I always call any birthday weekend an "extravaganza". I know calling something an "extravaganza" makes it sound like a huge, wild and crazy party, but now that we're a bit older, it's actually more subdued - dinners with friends and other fun activities (that don't end in a night of puking or being passed out, thank you very much.) No, we're much more refined now...
On Friday, the girls (that is, my sisters and I) went to one of our fave places to do one of our fave things: paint ceramics at Brushfire! I know what you're thinking...but it really IS good times. We pick out a piece and paint on our designs, all while gossiping and catching up on everything! After that, we went out to eat at a little Italian restaurant across the street: Mona Lisa Ristorante. The food was good, but truthfully, the company was what made the evening! I've known my sisters for a long time. (Actually I only have one real sister (who I've, of course, known forever), but the other 2 sisters are sisters and now they are my sister's sisters-in-law and therefore my sisters-in-law as well. It's just easier to say my sisters. Because they are. Did you get all that?) Anyways, we could not stop laughing about everything! In fact our waitress was so enjoying our conversation everytime she came to bring us something that she wanted to join in as well...here's her part of the convo "You girls are so funny! I have a young cousin and we went to Walmart the other day and she was like "Woh, Walmart is weird."" We all looked at each other and were all "Right..." (After she left we were all "WTD"? = What the deuce?!) haha!
Now, when we go to a restaurant, I don't know about you, but if there is free bread involved we are ALL OVER it. (Free bread?! Yes please!) So, after ordering our apps and meals (We were starving, btw. Painting makes you hungry!) we asked Carol (who had been to the restaurant before) whether we would be getting bread. She said that we were supposed to and that she would ask the waitress when she came back. At this point, we were also quite parched and had downed our water as soon as it was poured (as gossiping about others is exhausting.) So, when she came back Carol was like "Um...Do we get bread?" and the waitress (who btw, looked and spoke like Amy Poehler from SNL, which I just now realized) said "Of course. I will bring it." and I chimed in with "Oh, and can we also please get some more water?" And our waitress, who I will now call 'Amy' said "Yes, I will be right back with your bread and water." When she left I was all "What are we - in prison? "Can we please have bread and water?!" Which sent us into hysterics! Then my sister said "This is like Jesus times - having bread and water." which made us laugh even harder! Then when 'Amy' brought our b&w, along with some olive oil/balsamic to dip the bread in, Belin said "Wow, it is like Jesus times with us dipping bread in this olive oil!" And then we were almost crying because we could not stop laughing! Then there was talk of who wore "Hollywood pants" (Belin), who rocked the party who rocks the party? (Carol), who wore white pants in the rain (not any of us!), and the smell of basements (ew..). Anyhoo... it all was really, really funny!
What? It's not that funny to you?!
Then, I guess you totally HAD to be there! ;-)
